Have you ever tried to find a play kitchen that was ideal for your toddler and still big enough for your school age child? Well I have and they are definitely hard to find. Our favorite so far though is the Step2 Lifestyle Master Chef Kitchen. Though we originally selected this product to replace our original very small play kitchen in my daughters room whom are 5 and 6, it has now become the favorite toy for all four of my children and is the first things you see when entering our home.
Let’s go back a bit to the day the delivery man came walking up to my home with the Master Chef Kitchen. I can remember like it was yesterday, hearing my oldest scream look mom, look mom what the man is bringing. It was a huge box, bigger than I ever imagined being brought to our door. I pushed the new Step2 kitchen into our real kitchen for a moment to let my children gear down from their excitement. I instructed that we would open that weekend if their rooms were clean and went on about our daily routine from them.
The two days went by and nothing changed, no room clean and box still sat where it did when it arrived. Though this day was Saturday and it was expected that they would wake up to a new kitchen. Of course that is not the surprise they received but a reminder to clean their room. It was less than an hour later and I was greeted with nearly spotless floors and cleaned closets. So we got right to work with the build.
It was surprising easier than I expected to put the Lifestyle Master Chef Kitchen together. I carefully followed the instructions and about half way through (one we went from floor to stand) the kids could no longer hold their excitement and had to interrupt mommy hard at work. If you look closely the two that took the most interest was not who we selected the kitchen for at all but my two boys instead.
It took me around an hour from start to finish with my children assist the build along the way. The finished product was more than expected. It was quite tall in size (you can see a comparison below with a photo of my one year old son). There were so many wonderful extras included like a coffee pot, mugs, plates, bowls, silverware, storage baskets and more.
So many pieces made noises to mimic a real kitchen. The stovetop has bubbling sounds and lights, the microwave and stove both have dials that make beeping noises for time and temp and the phone is as close to a real one as you need in a play kitchen setting with again beep and ring buttons.
There are two small baskets on the side which are great to store the silverware in and for smaller play food items (not included) and a larger basket at the mid-base which can hold a lot of your accessories. The top sports three white doors which open to three cabinets like storage spaces, each a nice size for the plates, bowls, etc.
My favorite features though are the utensil holder which in my opinion makes it have a very modern look and feel. I also favor the coffee pot space and spot above it for the cups. This is a feature that I feel kitchen lack and it was very nice to see. Plus my oldest loves to pretend to make and share morning coffee with me.
It has been nearly a month since this addition went into my dining/greeting area of our home. It is one of the most asked about toys we own and I am always glad to share how much we love the Step2 Lifestyle Master Chef kitchen and would suggest it to anyone considering a play kitchen for their child.
There is not a day that goes by the Master Chef Kitchen is not played with. That alone will show that it is a valued purchase. It’s shape is great for play spaces of all sizes and you get a lot for your money here. This is the kitchen when you are looking for something that will grow with your child.

We were so pleased with the Step 2 ladder that we gave our 2yr old daughter that we are wanting to give her the Master Chef Kitchen by Step 2 for her Christmas. Stella is 2. 1/2 and will love to be in the Kitchen!
