I absolutely love getting my kids in the kitchen to help me cook. Not only is it rewarding to spend time with them; they also tend to be very proud of their creations. Now this means that they are also more open to trying new foods and more healthy options in their everyday meals.

The Handstand Mexican Cookbook kit was wonderful in helping me achieve a new level of activities for my children. Before we started using it, our shared meal preparations were more simple like scrambled eggs, pancakes, cold salads, etc. This has really opened up a whole new world of possibilities for us in the kitchen. Our most fun so far was the taco salad. Very easy to make and they enjoyed choosing their own toppings as well. I was so excited to see them pill on the lettuce and tomatoes! They loved it and ask for this one often.

The Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook also introduces foods to children in Spanish. This is a really nice extra to get them started early on a foreign language. Remember when they are young is the best time to teach them as much as possible. For their little brains are like a sponge soaking up every word we say.

Handstand Kids Mexican Cookbook Kit is packaged in a resealable tortilla bag with a child-sized oven mitt, the Mexican Cookbook kit introduces kid chefs ages 3 to 12 to delicious and healthy Mexican recipes. Recipes like Farmer’s Market Chips & Salsa, There’s a Meatball in My Soup, and Cheese sandwiches into Quesadillas take your little chef around the world through your own kitchen. All the utensils and ingredients are translated into Spanish so you can speak the language of Mexico as you cook! The recipes are leveled from 1 to 4 avocados so you will know the age appropriate level for your little chef.

My children enjoy preparing their Mexican feasts on the Mexico Mat by Handstand Kids. It has a large surface; just the right size to get several ingredients and a mixing bowl on. You can even use it as a cutting board or placemat. The best feature of all is the pattern. Blocks line every side of this mat and in each block is a picture of a food with both the English and Spanish word for that food! My children will point to different ones each time this is out and quiz mom on what does this say. Occasionally we are stumped and consult google for the correct pronunciation. So for this one mom is learning too.

BUY IT: Handstand Kits Cookbook Kits are available in Mexican, Chinese and Italian. They also offer matching mats for each. You may also purchase a Chef’s Hat, Oven Mitt and Apron for your little chef right from the Handstand Kids Online Store.

  1. I like the idea of the blocks that show the food in English and Spanish. I wish we had these tools for my kids when little.
